What’s in the Japanese Battle Partners booster box

  • 30 Battle Partners booster packs, set code SV9
  • 5 Japanese-language cards in every pack
  • 150 cards across the full box

Five-card packs make each reveal quick, and thirty of them give you a session you can finish in one go or stretch across several evenings. The big Trainer’s Pokémon artwork turns up in the rare slots, so take your time with each pack.

About Battle Partners (SV9)

Released in Japan on 24 January 2025, Battle Partners (バトルパートナーズ in Japanese) is an expansion in the Scarlet & Violet line. On the packaging, the full title reads Battle Partners (SV9) Booster Box, from the Pokémon Card Game Scarlet & Violet series.

There are 132 cards in all, 100 of them in the main set. The chase list includes three Ultra Rares (UR) and six Special Art Rares (SAR), which gives a single box plenty to uncover.

Who it suits

Character collectors get the most from this box. Each of the four Trainers has a partner card worth chasing: Bellibolt ex for Iono, Clefairy ex for Lillie, Zoroark ex for N and Zacian ex for Hop, and N fans also have a Reshiram to look for. A binder page per Trainer is a satisfying way to organise the pulls.

The Special Art Rares to chase

Four Trainer’s Pokémon ex head the SAR list. Look for Iono’s Bellibolt ex at 125/100, Lillie’s Clefairy ex at 126/100, N’s Zoroark ex at 127/100 and Hop’s Zacian ex at 128/100.

Every one of these cards puts a Trainer next to their partner Pokémon, and that pairing is exactly what the set name refers to. N fans get another highlight in N’s Reshiram AR 109/100; place it beside the Zoroark ex for a strong N page.

Keep a checklist handy

A short list of the six SARs and three URs beside you as you open turns the session into a hunt. Crossing off each hit as it appears also tells you which cards to look for in trades afterwards. Protect anything special in a sleeve and top loader as soon as it comes out.

Battle Partners or Journey Together?

The English Journey Together expansion draws mainly on Battle Partners, which is why both feature the same headline Trainers. Inside a Japanese Battle Partners booster box are 30 compact packs printed in Japanese, and numbering follows the Japanese set list, for example 127/100 for N’s Zoroark ex SAR.

Collectors who enjoy comparing languages can pull a card here and then display it beside its English Journey Together version. If you mainly build decks for English-language play, an English Journey Together product will suit that purpose better.
