Description
Collectors who want to buy Ancient Roar SV4K Booster Box stock can pick up the sealed Japanese display at TCG Overvault, priced in Australian dollars. It holds 30 packs of 古代の咆哮 (Ancient Roar), the set that brought the Ancient card type into the Pokémon Card Game.
Ancient Roar launched in Japan on 27 October 2023 with 66 main-set cards and 95 cards overall. That short list means a full Japanese Ancient Roar booster box gives you a real run at the set, from Roaring Moon ex down to the Trainer art cards.

Box contents and format
- 30 Ancient Roar booster packs, set code SV4K
- 5 cards per pack
- 150 cards in total, all printed in Japanese
A Japanese Ancient Roar booster box is built differently from an English display. Rather than 36 bigger packs, you get 30 packs of five, which means a faster opening session and a smaller box that sits tidily on a shelf.
Card numbers such as 090/066 are printed on every card, so checking pulls against the set list is simple even if you do not read Japanese.
Ancient Roar, Future Flash and Paradox Rift
Ancient Roar was released as one half of a pair. Its partner is Future Flash (SV4M), and the two Japanese sets were combined to form the English expansion Paradox Rift.
That split lets you focus on the ancient side of the story. If Roaring Moon and Sandy Shocks appeal more than their futuristic counterparts, a Japanese Ancient Roar booster box is a direct way to open that half on its own.
The pulls collectors want most
Pokémon ex
Roaring Moon leads the set. Its ex card appears as a Special Art Rare at 090/066 and again as a gold Ultra Rare at 093/066, and those two cards top most wish lists. Sandy Shocks ex SAR 089/066 is the other major Pokémon pull.
Trainer Special Art Rares
Trainer collectors have two targets: Professor Sada’s Vitality SAR 091/066 and Mela SAR 092/066. Illustrated Trainers like these are a big reason people open packs rather than only buying singles.
Protecting your pulls
Lay out penny sleeves and top loaders before the first pack, so an SAR or the gold Roaring Moon goes straight into protection. Sort each pack’s five cards as you go and keep the Trainers together. Opening a Japanese Ancient Roar booster box with a friend? Split the 30 packs evenly and trade duplicates at the end.
Where the Ancient card type began
The official Pokémon Card Game site credits Ancient Roar with the debut of the Ancient card type. The set also introduced Ancient support such as Earth’s Vessel and Professor Sada’s Vitality, names English players will know from Paradox Rift.
If you like owning the point where a mechanic started, this box is a neat piece of Pokémon TCG history. When you buy Ancient Roar SV4K Booster Box stock, you are opening the cards that kicked off the Ancient theme.
Playing with Japanese cards
Japanese cards are ideal for collecting and for casual games at home. Check with your event organiser before bringing Japanese-language cards to an English-language tournament.
Keeping it sealed
Prefer to leave your Japanese Ancient Roar booster box unopened? Store the box flat, out of direct sunlight and away from humidity so the packaging stays crisp.
