About the Ascended Heroes expansion
Ascended Heroes launched on 30 January 2026 as part of the Mega Evolution series. It has 217 cards in the main set and 78 secret rares, for 295 cards in total.
Heading the line-up is Mega Dragonite ex. Alongside returning and newly discovered Mega Evolution Pokémon ex you will find Stellar Tera Pokémon ex and Trainer’s Pokémon, making the set a celebration of favourites from throughout the Scarlet & Violet era.
Chase cards to look for
Mega Dragonite ex is the final card in the set, a Mega Hyper Rare at #295. Mega Charizard Y ex is the second Mega Hyper Rare at #294, and both are the big targets for anyone opening an Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box.
The set also debuts the Mega Attack Rare. Seven cards carry this new rarity, including Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex, with artwork built around each Pokémon’s biggest attack.
The set also has 33 illustration rares and 22 special illustration rares. Well-liked special illustration rares include N’s Zoroark ex, Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex.
The N’s Zekrom promo card
Inside every Ascended Heroes ETB is N’s Zekrom as a full-art foil promo. Bun Toujo illustrated it, and within the Black Star Promo line for Mega Evolution it is numbered MEP 031.
In the main set, N’s Zekrom is a Rare (155/217), so N fans can display this full-art promo next to that version. Building an N collection? It goes nicely with an N’s Zoroark ex pull. Before the first pack is opened, slip it into a sleeve and a top loader.
This listing covers the standard version of the Elite Trainer Box. Released alongside it on 20 February 2026 was a Pokémon Center edition, whose promo carries the Pokémon Center logo.
Playing with the Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box
In Ascended Heroes you will find 20 Pokémon ex, 6 Tera ex and 13 Mega ex. Mega Evolution Pokémon ex deal heavy damage, yet each one hands over 3 Prize cards when Knocked Out, so plan your deck around keeping them safe.
A full game is covered by the plastic coin, coin-flip die, six damage-counter dice, 65 sleeves and 40 Energy cards, while the player’s guide explains the expansion step by step. Six dividers let you keep your best pulls, Energy, Trainer cards and Mega ex in their own sections.
Players who buy Ascended Heroes ETB stock as their first box of the set can be sleeved up and playing the same evening.
