What you get in the box
Each display holds 24 packs of 12 cards, which leaves you 288 cards to work through. Across the set there are 127 card types:
- 6 Leaders and 6 Special Cards
- 10 Super Rares and 26 Rares
- 30 Uncommons and 45 Commons
- 1 Treasure Rare and 1 DON!! card
The single Treasure Rare in the list is the card many openers will be watching for, though every pack is randomly assorted.
With 45 Commons and 30 Uncommons in the list, a full box also leaves you with a healthy stack of duplicates. Use them to complete playsets for your chosen Leader, or trade them with friends who are building around a different colour.
Chopper, Marco and King as Leaders
Two characters step up to Leader status for the first time here: Tony Tony.Chopper in red-black and Marco in red-blue. King is back as a Leader too, now purple-black and carrying new effects.
The three play quite differently, so you have three distinct decks to consider before you commit. An OP-08 booster box is a good way to find out which of the three suits you best.
Comparing the Leaders
Pull each Leader out as you find it and line up Chopper, Marco and King together on the table. Sorting the rest of your pulls under their colours shows you which deck you can build first.
Red is shared by Chopper and Marco, so red cards from your packs may suit either list. Keep those in a separate pile until you have decided which Leader to build around, and you will avoid splitting a useful card between two half-finished decks.
Drum Kingdom and Zou on the table
From Drum Kingdom come Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk, and from Zou come Carrot and Wanda. Fans of either arc will find familiar faces throughout the packs.
Colours are tied to crews as well: blue goes to the Whitebeard Pirates, purple to the Big Mom Pirates and black to the Animal Kingdom Pirates.
Binder pages by crew
Try one page per crew or arc: Drum Kingdom, Zou, the Whitebeard Pirates, the Big Mom Pirates and the Animal Kingdom Pirates. Pages like these make gaps obvious and trades easier to plan.
