Shining Fates and the Shiny Vault
Shining Fates was released on 19 February 2021 as a special Sword & Shield expansion. Its Japanese equivalent is Shiny Star V. The set has 195 cards: 72 in the main set, 1 secret rare and a 122-card Shiny Vault numbered SV001 to SV122.
The Shiny Vault is where the excitement lives. It holds more than 100 Shiny Pokémon, including Shiny Pokémon V and VMAX, all with an etched finish, and these cards can replace the reverse holo slot in a pack.
The Charizard chase
Shiny Gigantamax Charizard VMAX, numbered SV107/SV122, is the card most collectors picture when Shining Fates comes up. It is a big reason people open each pack slowly, one card at a time.
Opening for Shiny Vault pulls
Because Shiny Vault cards can take the reverse holo slot, check that position carefully in every pack. Have a sleeve ready for each etched card as it appears, since the finish deserves protection from the moment it leaves the wrapper.
