What comes in Heroic Beginnings
- A 50-card deck with the same cards as the ST01 starter deck
- 3 different GUNDAM ASSEMBLE kits
- 10 Resource cards
- 8 token cards, three of which are unit tokens
- A paper damage counter
- A rule sheet and playsheet
- 1 bonus pack with a full-art holo version of one of the deck’s 16 cards
The bonus pack is a welcome extra: whichever card it holds, you end up with a full-art holo copy of something that already belongs in your deck.
Already own ST01?
Because the deck matches the ST01 starter deck card for card, Heroic Beginnings is the way to add the miniatures to a list you already have. If you are starting fresh, you simply get the full package in one box.
Amuro Ray and Suletta Mercury: two eras, one deck
Amuro Ray and the Gundam represent the original Mobile Suit Gundam, while Suletta Mercury and the Gundam Aerial come from The Witch from Mercury.
Putting both in one list makes the starter a good way to share the game between long-time fans and newer viewers. Someone who grew up with Amuro and someone who discovered Gundam through Suletta can each find a favourite in the same deck.
Playing either side of the list
Take turns leading with Amuro’s classic Gundam or Suletta’s Aerial, and you will soon see how the two halves of the deck support each other. It makes a natural talking point for fans of either series.
A balanced deck for learning
Blue and White play a balanced style. You are not locked into all-out attack or pure defence, so the Heroic Beginnings starter set lets you try both approaches while you learn.
What the deck teaches
- Fielding Mobile Suit units
- Pairing those units with Pilots
- Managing your Resources
Get comfortable with those three and you will be ready to choose a direction for your next deck, whether it leans toward attack or defence.
A balanced starter is also a handy reference point. After a few games, facing an aggressive or a defensive deck shows you clearly how each style differs from your own.
Who the Heroic Beginnings starter set suits
- Players brand new to the Gundam Card Game
- Fans of Mobile Suit Gundam or The Witch from Mercury
- ST01 owners who want the GUNDAM ASSEMBLE miniatures
- Anyone looking for a balanced opponent for another starter set
Building the kits
The three kits are mini Gunpla that sit on token cards during play. They arrive unpainted, and paints and tools are sold separately. Assemble them as they come for a quick start, or treat them as a small painting project once you have the supplies. Iron-Blooded Orphans fans can find three more kits in the PC01A Premium Collection.
