Wings of Advance box contents
Like the other GUNDAM ASSEMBLE starters, this set includes:
- A 50-card Green and Blue deck
- Three GUNDAM ASSEMBLE kits
- Ten Resource cards
- Eight token cards
- A paper damage counter
- A playsheet with the rules
- One bonus pack
Shuffle the deck, lay out the playsheet and you are set for a two-player game as soon as a friend brings a deck of their own.
Heero, Zechs and their machines
Heero Yuy and Zechs Merquise sit at the centre of this Gundam Wing starter, each paired with his signature machine: Heero with the Gundam Wing and Zechs with the Tallgeese.
Fans of the series get both rivals in a single list, ready to play without tracking down single cards first.
A rivalry in one box
Having both pilots in the same deck lets you enjoy the rivalry from either side. Lean on the cards that suit your mood, or show a friend who knows the series how the two machines can fight on the same team.
Building the Wing kits
During a game, the compact, unpainted Gunpla known as GUNDAM ASSEMBLE kits sit on top of token cards. Build all three before your first match so the table looks the part, and come back with paint later for a finished look if you like. Tools and paints aren’t included.
How the ramp plan works
Green and Blue in Wings of Advance focus on ramping. Each turn you build up what you are able to do, so your strongest cards reach the table sooner than they otherwise would.
Players who prefer a strategy that comes good late in the game, instead of a sprint from the first draw, will find this style rewarding.
Because the payoff arrives later, the deck also teaches you to plan ahead, a useful habit whichever deck you move on to next.
Playing the long game
In the early turns, favour the cards that grow your options instead of spending everything at once. Once that groundwork is in place the bigger plays follow, and the Wings of Advance Starter Set starts to show what it was built for.
Who the Wings of Advance Starter Set suits
- Gundam Wing fans
- Patient players who enjoy building toward a big finish
- Fans of Heero Yuy or Zechs Merquise
- Anyone wanting an extra deck to team up with a different starter for two-player games at home
For a strong contrast at the kitchen table, face it against the aggressive Zeon’s Rush ST03A starter set. Speed against patience makes for instructive games on both sides.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for a Gundam Wing fan, since the box holds a ready deck, a playsheet and three kits to build.
